Trips and Enrichment
Enrichment at Woodlands
At Woodlands we believe in having a rich curriculum that is full of experiences they will remember for a life time. Our key drivers are at the heart of our curriculum which is then planned around quality texts and topics.
All year groups have a wide range of trips, workshops and visitors planned throughout the year- this is what makes our curriculum so special and exciting for our children. Alongside the curriculum, we have our cultural calendar – which plans all the themed days/weeks throughout the year – this includes religious celebrations across all faiths, important days in history and other national days that the children can learn about.
Family partnerships
We look for lots of opportunities for our parents to come in and celebrate all the wonderful things the children have been learning and understand the children thrive when these relationships are strong and so are always looking for ways to share what the children have been learning with our families.
Stay and Learn
Each half termly we organise ‘Stay and Learn’ sessions where there is always an activity planned that the children can do with their family members – this is a special time where you can spend quality time with you child in their classroom.
We will be beginning Read with me at the end of the half term – where our families can come and share a book with their child/children at the end of the day.
In addition, lookout for our music concerts which happen throughout the year as well as termly family events – which include a family movie night, family quiz night and our summer and winter fair.

As part of our curriculum we are championing outdoor learning and are working towards the ‘Teach outdoors’ qualification – this means that the children will be doing lots of their learning outside in all subjects and all weathers – please check planning documents & the year group blogs for more information.

Alongside our Outdoor Learning curriculum, we also offer forest school sessions across the school. This is a block of lessons run by our Forest School Instructor where they learn about being in nature & how to look after our environment as well as activities such as making bird feeders, building dens and climbing trees.

100 things to do before you leave Woodlands
The children have activities to complete before they leave Woodlands. Each year groups carefully plans these activities throughout the year and then they create a year group folder which is kept in the book areas in school.

Please look at the year group & subject blogs as well as our brilliant newsletter for more information on our brilliant curriculum & school ethos.
